Your first swap
A step-by-step walkthrough of your first cross-chain swap on OmniHood. Takes about 2 minutes end to end.
The fastest way to understand OmniHood is to do one swap. Here's the whole flow from cold start.
Before you start
You'll need:
- A wallet with any token on any of our 7 chains — even a few dollars of SOL, ETH, USDC, or whatever.
- A destination in mind — a different token, a different chain, or both.
Step by step
Open Swap
Go to omnihood.fun/swap. If you're not signed in, click Connect (top-right) and pick your login method — see Connecting a wallet if you need help.
Pick the token you're paying with
Click the token pill under You pay to open the picker. You can:
- Search by name (
USDC) or symbol - Paste a contract address (any supported chain)
- Browse by chain
Balances load automatically for every chain your wallets touch.
Pick what you want to receive
Click the token pill under You receive. Same picker — pick any token on any chain. It can be the same chain as your pay token (that's just a normal same-chain swap) or a different chain (that's a bridge + swap in one).
Type the amount
Enter what you want to pay. After about 1.5 seconds you'll see a live quote: exactly what you'll receive, the fee, and the route. If prices move while you're deciding, the quote refreshes automatically.
Approve → sign
ERC-20 tokens need a one-time on-chain approval before the app can spend them — the button says Approve for that. After the approval lands, the button becomes Swap. One more signature and you're done.
Wait for the funds
- Same-chain swap — done in ~10–30 seconds.
- Cross-chain swap — 1–3 minutes end to end (an on-chain send, a bridge relay, and a settlement swap on the destination).
The panel shows a progress bar for the whole trip; you can close the tab and check back later — the route continues.
What happens under the hood
- OmniHood asks Relay for the best cross-chain path and Jupiter for the best fill on Solana. You never pick a route.
- If the destination chain needs some native gas to hold the token (e.g. Solana ATA rent, EVM L2 gas), OmniHood delivers a tiny amount alongside the swap so the funds are usable immediately.
- The quote you signed locks in a minimum output. If the market moves against you past that limit, the swap reverts on-chain and your paid tokens return to your wallet — you never receive less than the quote showed.
